Fay and I heard a bird singing this morning as we walked along Sand Beach Road. As we looked into the thin vegetation between the road and the edge of the harbor, we saw a red-breasted nuthatch. Too quick for me to grab a picture, so this one above (from the internet) will remind me of what we saw.
Note: The song we heard did not belong to the nuthatch (yank! yank!). It was the one that goes “widgety-widgety-widgety” — that belongs to the Common Yellowthroat (check it out at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECVC3tS_G4U)
